Hello Fellow Schussmeisters’
Despite the fact that I missed the turn and had to turn around and come back, we got on the road almost on time. The weather was a little cold when we got to Grand Blanc but, by the time we got to Rochester we were shedding our long pants. It turned out to be perfect weather. Not to cold and lots of sun. Jan, you can tell your son you made it the full 18 miles!! We made it to the Cider Mill at around noon. We reassured Jan that we only had 3 miles left so she was almost finished. Hey, Al, we think we found the perfect big wheel for next years big wheel race. We were off to finished the ride. We went to the Rochester Mills Beer Co. where we had lunch and watched the Michigan football game, if that’s what you call it (they can’t even beat Toledo). After lunch we said our goodbyes and headed home. The fall colors were great and it was a wonderful last group bike ride. We do not have many more of those left this year but that just means it’s Ski Time!!!!!!!
Well, once again it’s that time of year. The time of year when all the ghost and goblins come out. Not to mention some witches and what ever Lindsay dresses up as. We had a great party, thanks to Al and his mom for being the DJ. They did good job. Kudos to Bob (the fire fly) Morey for decorating the place. I was a little disappointed that more people did not dress up but those who did looked great! It was hard to pick a first, second and third, but first went to the Fire Flies, Bob and Patty, second went to the Wicked Witch, AKA Kim Lawrence, and third place was The Little Old Lady Who Lost Her Puppy, Lindsay Schriner.
off to meet up with Terry, Karen, Pat, Ann, Deana and Tom for dinner. We arrived in Traverse City and joined Dee and a friend, her mom and sister, Julie and her friend. We all settled in and got prepared for the ride the next day. The weather looked like it was going to be a problem at first but after the first winery, with Pat in the chase vehicle, the sky cleared up and the day turned out great. Good thing we had both a chase vehicle and a sag vehicle for our “STUFF”. I’m still trying to stop laughing at the thought of Pat hoping down the road with one shoe after Dee's mom. Then there was the second chase of the day when Mooney passed by the restaurant because he did not know were it was. Then there was Tom right behind him trying to get him to turn around. By the end of the ride Julie ask Peggy what she thought of the third taste of wine? She said, “I do not think I can tell the difference anymore”!!!!. Later, after the ride, Mike Rodgers told us to meet them at a restaurant out side of town. Andy made a good choice ordering the 8 oz instead of the 12 oz prime rib. Everyone had leftovers cause those stakes were huge!!! Good thing I went for a sandwich. Well Mike, they did not have to wheel you out on a dolly but I think Dan might have wanted to borrow that dolly for his leftovers. (CLICK HERE FOR PHOTOS) Once again, Dee, great trip!!!!!!! Ah ...the first fall meeting. A chance to talk with all your fellow Schussmeisters that you may or may not have
seen since last spring. There were a lot of happy faces and, as Ruben pointed out, that’s what we like to see. For those of you who were not there Al and Lindsay made a big announcement. The Schussmeisters will be bringing the Warren Miller Movie back to the Flint area. Thursday Dec. 4 th at 7:00 pm @ the NCG Trillium in Grand Blanc. The club will be having dinner before the movie at 5:00 pm @ Damons in Grand Blanc. Hope to see you all at our next fall meeting on Thursday October 9 where the theme for the evening will be “What You Need To Know About Buying Ski's And Snowboards.” (CLICK HERE FOR PHOTOS)
Our first annual golf outing went great!! We had 56 people golfing and the winning team was Brain Varco and Jane Cook with a score of 46. Sherrill Martin had the longest drive for the women and Mike Rodgers took the honors for the men. Last but not least Ryan Parish won closest to the pin. Take a look at the pictures to see how much fun we had. Thanks to our sponsors Assenmachers, Joseph Ford, Bishop Airport, Shumakers, Cyclefit and Sunrise Bike and Boards as well as all the other people who gave us great door prizes. I would also like to thank Dee Flynn, Pat O’Keefe, Karin and Dick Perry, Tom Allen, Linda Dosh, Alex Templeman, Linda Gillespie, Charl David and Nancy Covucci for there help cooking the food and setting things up. Of course it goes with out saying that this would not have been as big with out the hard work of Al Gillespie. |
